Mr. Newman is a Professor of Systems Management in the iCollege of the National Defense University. In this role Mr. Newman leads the Enterprise Architecture Certificate Program. He brings to the Program over 20 years experience in developing enterprise architectures for both Defense and Civilian agencies. He supports the DoD OSD(NII) for the DoD Architecture development and architect competencies.
He has additional experience in data architectures, Service Oriented Architecture, system concepts of operation and technical architecture, IT Strategic plans, IRM Policy & Procedures, and IT Capital Planning processes.
His current area of interest is in developing a methodology to support Net-Centric or Information Age architecture that incorporates agile characteristics to support a sense and respond organization.
Prior to accepting a position at IRMC he worked for Booz Allen Hamilton for 10 years. He headed up the Enterprise Architecture practice. In this role he established the foundational work for federated architectures in use at Departments of Labor and Health and Human Services. He also developed a rapid development for Enterprise Architecture that informed business outcomes in 120 day cycles.
